Repeat Prescriptions

Many patients require a repeat of their prescription.  We accept such requests by post or mailed into our repeat prescriptions box, situated at the surgery reception area.  Requests by telephone will NOT be accepted, with exception to a medical emergency 

Our surgery is fully computerised, as is the prescription system.  With each prescription slip will be a counterfoil.  On this counterfoil, tick the medicines required, as appropriate and post or deliver by hand, as advised.  Once we receive a request, please allow at least 48 hours for this to be processed, before the prescription can be mailed out or collected. 

If you are unable to collect your prescription personally, send a stamped addressed envelope with your request and it can be mailed to you.  You prescription can also be delivered to a local pharmacist of your choice. Please ask receptionist, for details of this service

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
